Glamour also tends to be quaintly provincial in dealing with sex. The cover story on ultimate sex dos and don'ts promised an extensive survey covering “everything you can do, try or say in bed.” I found it rather depressing that the article ran only four pages, one of those taken up by the key art. A few of the questions verged on raciness, but the final group of statistics refreshingly reassured readers that fidelity is the biggest turn-on of them all. Indeed, the bulk of articles in Glamour's “Men, Sex and Love” section deal with romantic couple activities and how to tell when a guy really, really loves you. There's none of the raunchy romping of Cosmo, where the same section is appropriately called “Love and Lust.”

To be fair, both magazines also contain a great deal of public service reporting on women's health issues, corporate outsourcing, sexual assault prevention and the upcoming presidential election. There is not always a lot of detail, but at least these articles can get women talking and thinking.
