Moe's Tavern Shopper - Spring 2001 - Vol. 3b
By Guest Moe, KoKo
See Krasna's OTHER Moe's
- Moe's Tavern Shopper
- brought to you by interim bartender Steve
- He's no Zeke and we hate him
- I guess one shopper is just not enough.
This edition will NOT contain:
1. Any sort of comparison or contrasting
2. Any reference to drunken Irishmen (not on this team)
3. Any reference to nationality, religion or creed (which was better when
they were Pearl Jam)
4. Any information that didn't happen on Sunday
A tale of two halves
It was the best of times then it was the worst of times and then we scored
and won, barely. But what the H-E-double hockey sticks is going on
people!?! Did everyone collectively mistake the Non-Drowsy formula for the
Drowsy formula of Wal-tussin at half time? But in the end we squeaked out
a victory, kinda the same way we beat this team in the finals a year ago,
remember that?
Rookie Watch
This week marked the rookie debut of Eric Emery and Jenny Casey (who both
made their Beachwood debut after the game also) We will also try from this
day forward to speak of Jenny Casey as just plain Casey, cause there is
another Jenny on the team. We will continue to call Eric - Eric, Steve -
Moe, Woodsy - New Hampshire, and we might start calling Zivan - Bozo if he
gets anymore stupid penalties. But I guess Bozo was a lovable clown who
delighted audiences for years so maybe that's not a bad thing, right? but
the rookies had a great game coming out of the gate. Eric scored and while
providing the greatest post-goal celebration in Moe's history we caution
him to keep the "screw-ball antics" to a minimum, we have a reputation to
uphold. Casey on the other hand came up huge by defending the bald-hat guy
on numerous occasions to thwart his attempts to tie the score in the
closing barrage. She also took a page out of the Cate Nolan school of body
blocking, and has the bruise to prove it. Casey, wear them proudly as Cate
does, they are symbols of your love for Moe's.
From the Mouths of Babes
After the game Casey was heard saying, "When that guy with the glasses (the
salt shaker) and the other guy with the glasses (Also the salt shaker) were
out there running all over the place I didn't know where to go, what side
do I play on how do I defend the goal (candle)" Note to the guys with the
glasses, let's try to play some positions, eh?
The Keystone Light Player-o-The Game
The first EVER Keystone Light player of the game award was handed out
Sunday to Sean the goalie for his sparkling play. If he didn't come up
with some huge saves in that first half we would of had to dump that
Keystone Light on the pavement, first for all the home-ees that couldn't be
here, and second because no one deserved it. A special thanks for one of
the newest Moes, Eric, for coming up with such a great award and a smart
way to get rid of his unwanted Keystone Lights.
Outta the way
A few people on the other team got knocked over Sunday, I accidentally ran
a girl over, Eric "accidentally" pushed some guy over, and Ellen knocked
the hell out of the other team again, and it was no accident.
Breakaway Watch
Moe had a golden opportunity to help the squad seal a victory late in the
first half with a breakaway opportunity that went wrong. I mean he didn't
even get a shot on net, there coulda been an empty net and he wouldn'ta
scored. Moe fired a weak shot from a little over the half court line that
even if it was on net I think that former Moe goalie "Reggie" coulda
stopped. OK - I'm done, I don't think I can get meaner than a Reggie
comment.
Your Not Paying Attention
Um, let's get our heads outta wherever they are (and that's your business)
and get them in the game people. there were a few players that didn't know
the score of the game, and to be honest that's a bit on the important side.
Game breakdowns
Let's take a second to talk about what we learned this Sunday
Moe - Um, get a better shot on a breakaway - but an overall fine game
Woodsy - Learn the positioning side to defense that you just learned about
offense
Cate - Great per usual but know the score next time
Casey - Strong showing, and relax it'll come to you
Eric - Great hustle attitude and goal dance
Natasha - A model of consistency
Zivan - Let's not do "too much" and keep it simple also see Woodsy above
Sean the goalie - Stellar performance
Ellen - the enforcer continues to bruise and punish
- Marty
