Moe's Tavern Shopper - Winter 2004 Vol. 6

By Natasha

  • Moe's Tavern Shopper
  • I've only got two subheads
  • So, uh, I guess I forfeit.

Moe's wins! Moe's wins!
Or is it, "Moe's win, Moe's win?" At any rate, our opponents on Sunday were largely non-existent. So after convincing the goalie from Tom's team to stick around for a scrimmage, we prepared to do battle against the toughest opponent we could possibly face: ourselves.

Marty vs. Steve: this time, it's personal.
Sure, Mike and Marty were the symbolic team captains for the school yard pick 'em. But the scrimmage really boiled down to a battle of the wills between Moe and the Man Moe Mocks. It was no Steve Moore/Todd Bertuzzi encounter, but things got a little salty out there. I've got to say, being on Steve's side of the great divide, it was pretty fun trying to pick Marty's pocket. I don't know, it just... he's Marty, you know?

Be careful what you wish for...
When I asked Terry if I could, "get a little urgency with that ice," what I meant was, "please stop trying to determine which water bottle is coldest and bring me an actual bag of ice before my nose starts swelling." But as we all know, language is a set of imprecise symbols for which every individual has their own nuanced interpretations. So what Terry heard in that particular phrase was, "please provide me with a bag of ice and an urgent account of your personal history." I'm not saying it wasn't a compelling tale, because it certainly was. I'm just saying... ice, Terry. That's what I was after.

I beat Sean!
Not to brag, but that was a pretty goal I scored there. Did you see it? Huh, huh? Did you? I totally roofed it, man. It was awesome. Of course, like most of the brief flashes of brilliance in my life, it was woefully misguided and ultimately meaningless.

Two-headed Sunday
I would just like to say, for the record, the Sportsmonster is killing me on this one. Not only should we not have to play this double header, they just had to schedule it on St. Patrick's Day weekend. Do they honestly think the team that didn't show the first time is going to be awake at 12:00 this Sunday? Anyway, I am in for the double-header excitement. Are you? Either way, please tell Steve.
